Educational Focus
As a teaching hospital, we are deeply committed to educating the next generation of veterinarians. Our fourth-year veterinary students play an active role in patient care, preparing them for practice under the supervision of experienced faculty members. This hands-on experience is invaluable for our students and ensures that they are well-prepared to enter the profession.
Community Impact
We make a significant and visible societal impact by providing comprehensive and integrated educational programs, cooperative discovery, and clinical and diagnostic services to local, regional, national, and global communities. Our outreach programs aim to address critical issues such as food security and animal, human, and ecosystem health in underserved communities. We collaborate with alumni, industry, professional organizations, non-governmental organizations, and governmental agencies to enhance the effectiveness of our educational and outreach programs.
Innovative Approach
Our hospital is dedicated to innovation and sustainability. We have recently completed a $12 million hospital-wide renovation and expansion project, adding state-of-the-art facilities such as a 9,000 sq ft small animal surgery wing with 8 ORs, an interventional radiology suite, a state-of-the-art linear accelerator, and a new 128-slice CT scanner. These advancements enable us to provide cutting-edge care and support our mission of advancing veterinary science and patient care.
At the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital, we are passionate about delivering exceptional care and advancing the field of veterinary medicine. We invite you to join us in our mission to improve the lives of animals and the people who care for them.
