About Us
At Four Lakes Veterinary Clinic, we are dedicated to providing top-notch veterinary care to our furry friends. Located in the heart of Madison, Wisconsin, our clinic is committed to making every visit a positive and stress-free experience for both you and your pet. We believe that every pet deserves a thorough examination each year, even when they are feeling well. Our comprehensive exams include checking for dental problems, ear infections, cataracts, monitoring weight, and evaluating for lumps, bumps, and enlarged internal organs. We also check mobility of the joints, listen to the heart and lungs, and examine poop samples for intestinal parasites. Additionally, we recommend bloodwork to establish a baseline for your pet's health.
We offer a wide range of services designed to keep your pet healthy and happy. Our medical services include medical/sick pet visits, laser therapy to reduce pain and inflammation, and ultrasounds to determine the significance of heart murmurs or to get a better look at internal organs. Our dedicated surgical suite performs spays, neuters, cystotomies, lump or tumor removals, nose resections, foreign body removals, and gastropexies to help prevent bloat in large dogs. All surgery patients receive IV fluids, pain medication, and antinausea medication to help them recover more quickly.
We also provide dental cleanings under full anesthesia, which allows us to take x-rays, probe around each tooth to assess for bone loss, and clean, polish, and apply fluoride to each tooth. If there are diseased teeth, we are proficient in extractions and suturing the gum closed to prevent infection. Our veterinary dentists can perform root canals, and we are happy to refer you to one if you are interested in trying to save a diseased tooth.
Our clinic is committed to fear-free practices. We use soft blankets, lots of treats, calming music, and sometimes anti-anxiety medications to help your pet feel calm and not threatened. We understand that some pets may have had bad experiences at other veterinary clinics, so we take the time to discuss different anti-anxiety medications or sedation options to ensure your pet's comfort during exams and treatments. Our goal is to make the visit as easy as possible for both you and your pet.
We also offer a Free Vaccines for Life Program, which provides cost-effective and personalized care for your pet. This program includes core vaccines such as rabies, DHLPP for dogs, and FVRCP for cats, as well as Bordetella and influenza vaccines for dogs. For cats, we include feline leukemia in the program for kittens and at-risk adult cats. Each enrolled pet requires a yearly wellness exam to stay in the program, ensuring your pet receives the necessary vaccinations and care.
At Four Lakes Veterinary Clinic, we believe in the importance of regular physical exams and preventive care visits. Our experienced veterinarians and certified veterinary nurses work together to provide the best possible care for your pet. We are proud to be one of the few Fear-Free Certified Hospitals in Wisconsin, dedicated to making every visit a positive experience for both you and your pet.
Whether your pet needs a routine check-up, dental cleaning, or surgical procedure, we are here to provide the highest level of care. Our commitment to excellence and patient comfort makes us the trusted choice for pet owners in Madison and Monona. We look forward to serving you and your furry friend.
