Meet Our Team
Our team is comprised of experienced professionals who are passionate about animal care. Dr. David Kalinowski, our lead veterinarian, graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1990 and has been practicing veterinary medicine on the Iron Range for many years. He has a strong commitment to providing top-notch care and has grown the business to include a team of three doctors, five technicians, three receptionists, and numerous other support staff.
Our team includes dedicated individuals like LuAnn, who has a strong passion for veterinary medicine and is known for her expertise in canine and feline dentistry. Shanon, who interned with us while finishing her veterinary technician program, now works with us as a full-time technician. Andrew, who has been in the veterinary industry since 2015, brings a wealth of experience to our team. Bev, who joined us in 2019, is our housekeeping staff and errand runner, and she loves to help with anything needed around the clinic.
We are also excited to have Kylee studying to be a certified veterinary technician with us. Bobbi, who has been with us since 2011, is married with four children and enjoys spending time with her family and pets. Becky, who joined us in 2019, grew up in Hibbing and currently lives in Chisholm with her husband and two kids. She enjoys spending time with her many farm animals.

What to Expect
When you visit Mesaba Animal Hospital for the first time, please bring any prior medical and vaccine records from your pet's previous veterinarian. If you have noticed any changes in your pet, such as changes in behavior, appetite, or activity level, please let the veterinarian know. Our veterinarians and technicians will also ask questions about your pet's lifestyle and habits.
We recommend once-yearly physical exams for healthy pets. Pets with medical conditions may need to be seen more frequently, depending on the specific medical condition. If you have questions about how often your pet should be seen, please call us or speak with the veterinarian during your pet's appointment.
During the appointment, one of our veterinarians will examine your pet from head to tail. If any abnormalities are found, the veterinarian will discuss them with you and go over testing and treatment recommendations. The veterinarian may also suggest things you can do to help improve your pet's health or to keep your pet healthy. In some cases, your pet may need to be referred to a specialist.
We look forward to helping your pet live as long and healthy of a life as possible.
