About Us
At San Francisco Pet Hospital, we are dedicated to providing exceptional veterinary care to the pets of our community. Our hospital, believed to be the oldest veterinary hospital in Northern California, has a rich history dating back to 1905. Initially, we treated a wide range of animals, from carriage horses to dairy cows, but today, we focus on the dogs and cats that are such an integral part of our families.
Our journey began with Dr. Lee Morris, who purchased the hospital in 1979 and undertook a significant remodel, re-opening it in 1981. After a long and successful career, Dr. Morris sold the hospital to his Associate Veterinarian of 16 years, Dr. Bobby Leyba, in 2019. Under Dr. Leyba's leadership, we continue to uphold the legacy established by Dr. Morris, striving to provide the best client experience and medical care possible for your pets.
Located in the charming neighborhood of NOPA, just a few blocks away from the historic “Painted Ladies” houses and Alamo Square Park, we are proud to be a part of this vibrant community. Our commitment to our local neighborhood and the support we have received over the decades are deeply appreciated and continue to inspire us to deliver the highest quality care.
From routine wellness exams and vaccinations to advanced diagnostics and complex surgical procedures, our talented veterinary team is committed to your pet's health and well-being. We offer a full range of services designed to keep your pets healthy and thriving, including spay and neuter services, tumor and lump removal, laceration repair, intestinal or stomach foreign body removal, and bladder stone removal. Our priority is always patient safety and comfort, ensuring that every procedure is performed with the utmost care and attention to detail.
