About Us
At Village Veterinary, we are dedicated to providing the highest level of veterinary medicine with a compassionate and caring approach. Located in the heart of York, Maine, our clinic is a full-service small animal hospital, catering to the needs of dogs, cats, rabbits, pocket pets, ferrets, and small birds. Our mission is to treat every patient as if they were our own, offering the same loving attention and care that we would give to our own pets.
Our team is comprised of highly trained and experienced animal lovers who are devoted to giving our patients the best care possible. Dr. Julie Matthews, the practice owner, has been serving the community since 1996. She is a 1989 graduate of NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine and has extensive experience in both traditional and holistic medicine. Dr. Matthews is certified in acupuncture (IVAS), homeopathy (AVH), and veterinary orthopedic manipulation (VOM), a form of chiropractic for animals.
We pride ourselves on our integrative approach to veterinary care, combining traditional medicine with holistic therapies. Our services include a full range of medical, surgical, and hospitalized care. We have a fully equipped in-house laboratory and high-frequency digital X-ray capabilities, allowing us to quickly diagnose and treat a variety of conditions. Our on-site ultrasound diagnosis ensures that we can provide comprehensive care for your pet.
In addition to our conventional services, we offer a range of holistic therapies. These include acupuncture, homeopathy, and chiropractic care through veterinary orthopedic manipulation. Our cold laser therapy is one of our most popular services, providing a non-invasive and effective treatment for various conditions. We also offer Chinese herbal therapy and hospitalization for pets requiring specialized care.
